Taking Care of Winter Skin
As the cooler months approach, it’s important to adapt your skincare routine to keep your skin extra moisturised - to make up for the loss of hydration through winter. We take you through the easy ways you can change up your skincare routine this winter so you can achieve that healthy glow all year round.
What happens to the skin during winter?
In winter, the cold temperatures and low humidity levels result in dry air that draws moisture away from our skin. You may even get cracked or bleeding skin as a result of harsh winter winds and dry indoor heat. Those who experience eczema or psoriasis often experience flare ups during these dry, cold months.
Easy Changes To Get Your Skin Winter Ready
During winter there are a few simple ways you can change up your skincare routine to ensure your skin is getting the right amount of nourishment.
Cleansing in Winter
When cleansing in winter, you want to make sure that you’re not stripping the skin of its natural oils. We suggest using an oil-based cleanser that will continue to nourish skin even as it removes makeup and cleanses the skin of impurities. Our Jojoba Activating Cleansing Oil is a great product to use for this as it will effectively remove makeup and impurities, but won’t leave your skin dry or stripped. Simply apply it over the top of dry skin and activate with water.
Exfoliating in Winter
In winter, exfoliating will be your best friend.
In cooler temperatures, our skin cells dehydrate and die out more quickly, meaning you’ll need to exfoliate more often.
Buffing away these old skin cells will make way for fresh, replenished and healthier skin.
You’ll want to exfoliate around twice a week or more. For an exfoliating cleanser, we suggest trying our Jojoba Bead Cleanser, which uses solidified Jojoba beads to gently buff away dead skin cells while cleansing the skin.
Our Jojoba Bean Natural Exfoliant is also a great natural exfoliator made from our Jojoba beans, which, when mixed with our 100% natural Jojoba, creates a deep exfoliation for both face and body.
Treating in Winter
It’s valuable to use a hydrating serum throughout winter, especially as the skin becomes drier.
If you follow an anti-ageing routine, it’s also important to continue the use of your age-defying serum - not only to reduce signs of ageing but to keep the skin hydrated and plump.
In terms of Age-Defying skincare, our best-selling Ultimate Serum is great to use throughout winter, as it contains hyaluronic acid - which is incredibly hydrating for the skin.
If you’re interested in using a serum that will protect the skin but aren’t quite yet ready to try an age-defying routine, our Probiotic Jojoba Milk serum will be perfect for you. Made with Jojoba Milk and a non-dairy probiotic yoghurt, this serum will not only rebalance the skin microbiome but will help keep the skin calm and free from irritation, especially during the cold months.
Nourishing in Winter
To add extra nourishment to your winter skincare routine, we suggest using a facial oil if you aren't already
We have a range of facial oils perfect to slot into any routine, including targeted oils that not only nourish the skin but help to reduce the appearance of other skin concerns.
These include our Jojoba and Rosehip Oil, our Pigmentation Oil and our Skin Balancing Oil.
If you're interested in age-defying skincare, our Ultimate Youth Potion is a facial oil that will help tackle fine lines and wrinkles.
Overall, our signature natural Australian Jojoba is the perfect facial oil to add to any routine as it works for all skin types and keeps skin moisturised for up to 8 hours.
Moisturising in Winter
Moisturising the face and body is always important - but even more so in the cooler months.
Cold weather will strip the skin of its essential moisture, so you want to make sure you’re keeping the skin as hydrated and moisturised as possible. It’s suggested to opt for a thicker moisturiser during winter to replenish the skin.
We suggest trying a moisturiser like our Multi Defence SPF Moisturiser for the face. It’s a bit of a thicker consistency to keep your skin extra nourished, plus it has SPF so it will keep your skin safe from the damaging winter sun too.
To keep your body nourished we suggest our Australian Wadi Wadi Jojoba to lather all over. Our Jojoba is filled with vitamins and omegas that keep your skin not only protected, but extra soft and smooth too!
Natural Skincare, With Clinically-Proven Results
You may be wondering how we got our ‘clinically-proven’ results for some of our products. Our products have been in vitro tested by a lab in New Zealand called Trinity Bioactives. They use real human skin cells and inject the cells with our products, then measure the increase in collagen and elastin in the skin cells. These results and claims shown on our product pages have come from the lab where we had it all tested.
